The National Coordinating Unit in Belarus is your reliable guide to EU assistance

 

Since getting national independence Republic of Belarus is an active participant of international technical collaboration of states and leading international organizations in the following priority directions:
  • assistance in harmonic development of the human person, improving popular standards of liveng, support for social service delivery and development of social assignment programmes;
  • assistance in sustainable economic growth by increasing of foreign trade, innovation and investment activities and international cooperation;
  • resource and energy efficiency;
  • environmental protection, sustainable environment, rehabilitation and sustainable development of areas affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

European Union is one of the main donors of international technical assistance to Belarus. European Union is the major donor of ITA in the world which developes a lot of ITA programmes in all regoins of the world with the whole budget more than 10 billion EURO a year.

National Coordinating Unit of EU Tacis Programme manages the EU programms and projects in Belarus. It was created upon the Decision of the Council of Ministers ¹ 1050 from 12 August 1997 and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and European Commission.

Assessed volume of the EU technical assistance to Belarus from 1991 till 2006 totals 216 million EURO or more than 40 % of all the technical assistance provided to Belarus. This makes the EU the single largest donor of assistance to this country.

The Coordinating Unit is pleased to observe the results of the cooperation and we hope that this assistance will lead to improving relationships between the parties.
