EU Tacis project "Support to the National Coordinating Unit in Belarus"

Within the framework of the Tacis Action Programme 2005-2006 provision was made to support the National Coordination Unit in Belarus. The contract was signed on 05 May 2008 and the project activities in Belarus started on 12 May 2008.

The overall objective of the project is to support the capacity of Belarus to make the best use of EC assistance.

The project Terms of Reference specify four specific objectives:

1. Promote the long-term self-sustainability of the NCU.
2. Assist the Belarus government (in particular individual line ministries) and stakeholders to understand and participate in the Neighbourhood Policy Instruments.
3. Strengthen the planning and co-ordination capacity in relation to EU external assistance programmes.
4. Increase public awareness of EC assistance programmes.
